We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to join our PACE team
responsible for load testing of our virtual data room product.

Job Description:
• Use industry-leading tools to ensure the performance of our web-
based software.
• Client side application performance testing
• This involves measurement and characterization of performance
metrics, designing tests, scripting, testing, and documenting results.
• Work with development to review design of java solutions from a
performance perspective.
• Evaluation of 3rd party tools from a performance perspective.
• Work with the performance team to provide input for the testing and
tuning efforts.
Required Experience:
• 5+ years in a Performance Engineering Role.
• Strong hands-on experience with Mercury LoadRunner.
• Knowledge of C, Java and .Net.
• Experience in high transaction J2EE web sites or similar.
• Experience with UNIX and OS monitoring.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivalent.

Software Performance Engineering Consultant with Dell Inc. - Austin, Texas
How Big Can You Think?
Dell MessageOne, the fastest growing SaaS suite in the business continuity industry, is looking for an experienced Performance and Scalability Engineer to help ensure that our application is lightning fast and massively scalable. You’ll design, configure and execute performance tests, collect performance data, profile the code, and work with developers to identify performance and scalability bottlenecks. You will work with a team of bright and highly motivated developers and QA engineers to build and deliver the best SaaS solutions in the industry.
On a daily basis you will be answering these questions:
- What are the breaking points of the system?
- How will the launch of a new feature impact cpu, memory and storage capacity?
Candidates should have experience with performance/scale data analysis, and sufficient engineering experience to write scripts for benchmarking systems.
Responsibilities
- Utilize sophisticated tools and techniques to analyze large volumes of data and understand the operation, performance and use of Dell MessageOne SaaS offerings.
- Analyze data and synthesize conclusions into recommendations for product and engineering improvements and further study.
- Work with product management and user experience teams to understand business dynamics, product usage, and uncover potential improvements to the user interface.
- Work with systems engineering team to discover inefficiencies and potential architectural improvements.
- Contribute to the body of knowledge by proactively identifying areas for further investigation as well as innovating the methods with which to analyze/understand them.
- Implement a performance and scalability testing methodology and recommend / develop test tools to execute performance and scalability tests.
- Isolate application and architectural issues and recommend resolutions to development.
- Provide internal and external customer documentation summarizing results of performance and scalability tests.
- Conduct research projects into applicable technologies for enhancement of application performance.
- BA/BS or MA/MS in a technical or quantitative field.
- Exceptional analytical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Experience with statistical data analysis (i.e. linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, sampling methods) in academic coursework and/or industry is preferred
- Knowledge of an enterprise performance testing / load generation tools such as Mercury LoadRunner or Seque SilkPerformer
- Knowledge of Java environments including memory management, garbage collection, collection classes (HashMap, ArrayList etc)
- Experience with Java or C++ code profiling and diagnostic tools such as JProbe or OptimizeIt
- Knowledge of relational databases, Postgres in particular, including query plan analysis / tuning, contention/locking analysis and tuning
- 2 years development experience in Java, C/ C++, Perl or PHP is preferred
- Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
- Experience working with Unix/Linux environments.
- Knowledge of at least one scripting language, e.g. Perl, Python.
- Knowledge of Internet/web technologies, such as web browsers, http, and html.
- Strong written and oral communications.
Position would require relocation to Austin, Texas.
